Mick – Principal Ecologist
Mick developed a passion for wildlife during his childhood. He began working in conservation in 1984 and became a self-employed ecological consultant in 2001. He has extensive knowledge in mammal, bird and invertebrate surveying. Mick holds an A-permit bird ringing licence along with a number of European Protected Species (EPS) licences, including bat, badger and great crested newt. He is also a bird ringing and bat licence trainer. Mick has over 30 year experience formulating mitigation plans to safeguard protected species during developments. Mick is power boat trained and certified and is a qualified Marine Mammal Observer. During his spare time, Mick enjoys working his trained pointing dogs and running his moth trap.
Iona – Licenced bat worker
Iona has over 10 years’ experience conducting bat surveys and delivering mitigation works. She holds a NatureScot bat licence and is experienced in bat handling and care. In addition, Iona holds an RYA Powerboat Day Skipper certificate and has five years’ experience in boat handling. Alongside her bat work, Iona has undertaken a wide range of protected species surveys, including badger, red squirrel and reptile surveys, and has assisted with great crested newt surveys. Outside of work, Iona enjoys hill walking and paddle boarding, reflecting her enthusiasm for the natural environment and the outdoors.
